Everlasting flowers in a heart for your Valentine?

November

The Fresh flower season is drawing to a close.

The summer is over, and what a glorious summer it was, and we have now moved into the gorgeous tones of autumn. The dahlias have now finished after the frost of a week or so ago, and there are few flowers in the field apart from some hardy annuals that are still trying their best. Please do get in touch to see what I can scrape together if you have the urge to have the last of the fresh flower.

It has been a challeging year here at Black Horse Farm Flowers, but the flowers, insects, birds and bees have had a great season and I am now preparing for the winter months drying flowers, planning and preparing for Christmas, the honesty is striped to reveal the beautiful Iridescent papery loveliness of the seed head and some of it has been turned into sparkling wreaths. My naturally dried flowers (no artificial heat, dyes or preservatives here) will be arranged onto round and heart shaped wreaths, on a willow or cornus base, into bunches and bouquets, all sustainable and environmentally friendly and unique. There will also be arrangements in glass jars, plus other arrangements yet to be invented. Hopefully this sustainable method of displaying my flowers provides beauty and joy. An everlasting present for a loved one perhaps? Come and have a look at the following markets, or in Sedbergh at 57 Main Street (dates to be confired)

Flowers grown as nature intended

Our flowers are grown sustainably on our Cumbrian smallholding in the Western Yorkshire Dales National Park without the use of pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers (other than compost and natural homemade teas) in an aim to encourage bees and other wildlife (small furry creatures and slugs can be challenging!!!).

We will sell any spare plants (flower and vegetable). All our plants are grown in organic peat free compost.

Your small local flower grower is the truly sustainable grower within an environmentally very damaging flower industry.
