Funeral Flowers

When asked to create a farewell arrangement I endeavour to make a tribute that is truly personal, representing the person and their life.

All my tributes are sustainable using natural seasonal flowers and foliage. I work without the use of plastic or wire therefore all the arrangements can be safely be left to fade in situ on the grave where they will eventually breakdown. Where possible everything included in the tribute will be grown here on the farm, however if specific flowers or colours are requested that I do not have on our farm I may be able to source them from other British growers

Where practical I can include flowers or foliage from the loved ones garden.

Full Wreath

This is an example of a Spring Funeral wreath, all the ingredients, the base, moss, flowers and foliage grown here on our flower farm. It is all completely natural and compostable. It could be left on the grave where it will compost and the snow drops, which are on their bulbs, will live on.

Our traditional wreath is constructed using only seasonal flowers and foliage, where possible, grown on our farm. If due to the season we are lacking available material flowers, and some of the foliage, will be sourced only from other British flower farmers. All the ingredients are completely compostable, no plastic or wire is used. The fully mossed base will be constructed using materials grown here on the farm.

All sizes given are the diameter of the finished wreath.

Willow Wheel, Dried Flower Tribute

Created for the widow of keen cyclist.

I received the following lovely feedback:

“Jude,

Thank you so much for creating this special bicycle wreath. So, special! Your kindness, thoughtfulness and dedication, meant so much to us.

The wheel, spokes and dried flowers were just right and lovely. All your time and work so precious and much more than we imagined.

Pauline put the wheel up in her kitchen window underneath Hugh’s mega coffee machine. Hugh made the best cappuccinos, espressos.

Thank you for help and easing the pain.

Linda and Jeff”

How I work

Working from my home and small holding in Cumbria, in the Western Yorkshire Dales, close to the Lancashire border, I grow my own flowers and only use home compostable ingredients that are seasonal in the UK, grown either by me or by other British flower farmers. I will only provide fully compostable funeral flowers with no plastic or wire so your eco funeral flowers could be left in place, if desired. This also makes them suitable for use for natural burials.

The North West growing season runs from March/April to October/November. During this time I use only my own and other locally grown flowers and foliage. In Winter my funeral arrangements may include both dried and fresh flowers, including flowers sourced from commercial growers based in other parts of the UK.

I am happy to meet you to discuss your flowers but as I am often out and about, or otherwise occupied, this is strictly by appointment only.

I can work to a colour pallet or theme to make the flowers reflect a life.

Prices are usually as stated, however specific requests may add to the cost.

Types of arrangement

My style is not formal, because I work with naturally grown flowers that grow as they please, in the directions they want. They can’t be made to conform to traditional straight lines. Please take a look at my gallery for examples (note this page is still under development)
