Natural, Flora, Fauna & Funga Friendly Flowers
December / January
Winter is now upon us, and there is dried flower beauty to behold
The growing season has drawn to a close and the dark nights of winter are upon us, but fear not there is still sustainable flowery beauty to be found in the shape of dried flowers.
It has been a challeging year here at Black Horse Farm Flowers, but the flowers, insects, birds and bees have had a great time, and I am beginning to think of the next growing season that will soon be upon us. This years fresh flowers are now dried and sorted. The honesty has been striped to reveal the beautiful Iridescent papery loveliness of the seed head and some of it has been turned into sparkling wreaths. My naturally dried flowers (no artificial heat, dyes or preservatives here) are being arranged onto round and heart shaped wreaths, on a willow or cornus base, into bunches and bouquets, and some displayed behind glass and on bits of wood. They are all natural, sustainable, environmentally friendly and unique. Hopefully this sustainable method of displaying my flowers provides beauty and joy. An everlasting present for a loved one perhaps?
You can find me on occasion in Sedbergh at 57 Main Street (keep an eye out for dates when I will be in the shop), or contact me to arrange a time to come and have a look, or to arrange a virtual viewing.

Flowers grown as nature intended
Our flowers are grown sustainably on our Cumbrian smallholding in the Western Yorkshire Dales National Park without the use of pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers (other than compost and natural homemade teas) in an aim to encourage bees and other wildlife (small furry creatures and slugs can be challenging!!!).
We will sell any spare plants (flower and vegetable). All our plants are grown in organic peat free compost.
Your small local flower grower is the truly sustainable grower within an environmentally very damaging flower industry.
